Implementation of the EU Flood Risk Directive

The Blue Rivers^® experts have successful experience in the implementation of the following aspects of the EU Flood Risk Directive:

1. Legal aspects:

• Support in the development of the Directive Specific Implementation Plan

2. Technical aspects:

• Development of the flood risk and flood hazards maps for pilot sites in Tisza basin (Ukraine), Pripyat (Belarus-Ukraine) and in GAP region (Turkey);
• Development of the early warning automatic gauging network (in frame of the NATO project for Upper Pripyat basin);
• Implementation of the small scale pilot flood protection activities.

3. Institutional strengthening and public awareness raising:

• trainings in Ukraine, Belarus, Turkey for river basin authorities on technical aspects of the EU Flood Risk Directive implementation.

The experts developed a brochure “Water quality and water resources management, including marine environment: short description of the EU Directives and the schedule of their implementation” (in Ukrainian)
